SUMMARY:READ ME: How this farm calendar was built
DESCRIPTION:FROST DATES USED: Last spring frost about April 25 and first fa
ll frost about October 15 (roughly 50% probability). These are ESTIMATES.
I could not reach a frost-date source while building this\, so they are ba
sed on typical dates for southeastern Pennsylvania (Lancaster County is ro
ughly USDA zone 6b/7a). Check them against a Penn State Extension or NOAA
frost table and shift dates if needed.\n\nLOCATION: Lancaster County\, Pen
nsylvania.\nDATE RANGE: February 1 to December 15\, 2025.\n\nKEY ASSUMPTIO
NS:\n- Tomatoes and the first lettuce are started indoors or in a heated g
reenhouse. Butternut and green beans are direct-sown.\n- Sweet corn: a fir
st planting around May 1 followed by about 5 more plantings every 2 weeks
through July 10 to keep ears coming for market from late July into fall. D
ays to maturity for common varieties are assumed: sweet corn 70-85\, cherr
y tomatoes 60-65 from transplant\, slicers 70-80\, butternut 100-110\, bus
h beans 50-60\, lettuce 45-60 from seed.\n- Garlic for 2025 harvest was pl
anted in fall 2024. Garlic for 2026 gets planted this October.\n- Weekly m
arket on Saturdays from about May 10 to October 25\, with prep on Fridays.
The calendar holds no market or CSA dates you gave me\, so move the recur
ring event to fit your real market day.\n- No high tunnel and no organic c
ertification were mentioned. Fertility and pest notes are kept general.\n\
nWEATHER VARIES: Weather changes from year to year. Shift dates based on s
oil temperature\, the 10-day forecast and what you see in the field. Don't
follow the calendar blindly.\n\nSUGGESTION: Check with your county Penn S
tate Extension office for local variety trials\, soil testing and pest ale
rts. You can use your one free change request to add your real market days
\, frost dates or other crops.\n\nMade by a Donkley AI worker. AI can make
mistakes\; please review before you rely on it.

SUMMARY:Planning: Order seed and supplies
DESCRIPTION:Order sweet corn\, tomato\, butternut\, green bean and lettuce
seed now\, before popular varieties sell out. Also stock up on seed-starti
ng mix\, trays\, row cover\, drip tape\, stakes and twine. Tip: pick sweet
corn types with staggered days to maturity so ears keep coming all summer
.

SUMMARY:Planning: Map fields and succession schedule
DESCRIPTION:Sketch where corn\, tomatoes\, squash\, beans and lettuce will
go this year\, rotating away from last year's spots for each crop family.
Plan corn in blocks of at least 4 rows for good pollination. Keep superswe
et (sh2) corn well apart from other types or stagger their silking dates.

SUMMARY:Hens: Review day length and lighting

o lay well. If you use supplemental light\, add it in the early morning on
a timer and change it gradually. Check fixtures for dust and keep them aw
