Ridgeline Pest Co.: Technician Script for the First Service and Quarterly Plan

Tone: friendly neighbor, honest, no pressure. Read it a few times, then say it in your own words.

1. Quick-Reference Card

Visit flow (60–75 min)

  • Knock, introduce yourself, confirm the appointment, and ask permission to start.
  • Quick talk: where they've seen activity, pets, kids, and sensitive areas.
  • Exterior inspection: foundation, windows, doors, eaves.
  • De-web and knock down wasp nests at eaves and entryways.
  • Granular bait around the foundation and mulch beds.
  • Perimeter liquid treatment, about 3 ft up the wall and 10 ft out.
  • Interior crack and crevice treatment in the kitchen, baths, and garage if needed. Then gel bait under sinks.
  • Note entry points and moisture issues, then do the wrap-up.
  • Offer the quarterly plan once, calmly, and accept the answer.

The plan in 3 lines

  • $149 initial, then $115 per quarter. Prepay the year and get 10% off.
  • Every visit: exterior perimeter, de-webbing, wasp knockdown. Interior treatment on request at no extra charge. Free re-treatment between visits if covered pests come back.
  • No long-term contract. Cancel anytime with 30 days' notice.

Say these 3 things

  1. "We follow all product label directions. Please keep people and pets off treated areas until dry, usually 30–60 minutes."
  2. "If covered pests come back between visits, we come back free."
  3. "No long-term contract. Cancel anytime with 30 days' notice. No pressure either way."

2. Arrival & Door Greeting

At the door

"Hi, I'm [TECH NAME] with Ridgeline Pest Co. I'm here for your [TIME] pest service. Are you [CUSTOMER NAME]?

Great. Here's how today usually goes. It takes about an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes. I'll start with a couple of quick questions about where you've been seeing things. Then I'll work around the outside of the house, and after that I'll do the inside: kitchen, bathrooms, and the garage if needed. When I'm done, I'll walk you through what I found.

Is it okay if I get started? And is there anything I should know before I begin, like pets in the yard or a gate code?"

When someone other than the account holder answers

"Hi, I'm [TECH NAME] with Ridgeline Pest Co. I have a pest service scheduled today for [CUSTOMER NAME]. Is that someone who lives here?

Are you okay with me going ahead with the service? It's about an hour, and part of it is inside: kitchen, baths, and possibly the garage."

  • If they're an adult and say yes: continue as normal. Note their name for the service ticket.
  • If they're unsure, or it's a minor: "No problem at all. I'll check in with [CUSTOMER NAME] and we'll find a time that works." Do only the exterior if the account holder already approved exterior-only service. Otherwise, reschedule.

When nobody answers (door hanger or text)

"Hi [CUSTOMER NAME], this is [TECH NAME] with Ridgeline Pest Co. I stopped by for your [TIME] service today. [Choose one: I completed the exterior treatment. / I wasn't able to start without you.] Please keep people and pets off treated outdoor areas until dry, usually 30–60 minutes. To schedule the inside or ask a question, reach us at [PHONE] or [LINK]. Thanks!"

3. Walkthrough With the Customer

Ask these conversationally. You don't need to ask all of them if they've already answered.

  1. "What made you call us? What have you been seeing?"
  2. "Where in the house or yard have you noticed it most?"
  3. "When did you first notice it, and how often are you seeing it now? Every day, or once in a while?"
  4. "Is it mostly at a certain time? At night, after rain, or in a certain season?"
  5. "Do you have any pets? Where do they eat, drink, and spend time?"
  6. "Any kids in the home, or anyone with health sensitivities I should keep in mind?"
  7. "Are there any areas you'd like me to avoid or be extra careful around, like a vegetable garden, a fish tank, or a play area?"
  8. "Any recent changes? New mulch, landscaping, a leak, construction, or a new appliance?"
  9. "Has the house been treated before, by a company or with store-bought products? Do you remember roughly when?"

Tip: Listen more than you talk. Jot their exact words (for example, "ants by the kitchen window after rain"), because you'll use them in the wrap-up and the plan conversation.

4. Explaining the Service as You Work

These follow Ridgeline's steps in order. Keep it short. You're explaining, not selling.

1) Quick talk about problem areas

"This just helps me focus on the spots that matter most to you, so I'm not guessing."

2) Exterior inspection (foundation, windows, doors, eaves)

"I'm walking the outside first to look for where bugs might be getting in or living, like gaps around doors and windows, or damp spots near the foundation. Most of what ends up inside starts outside."

3) De-web and wasp nest knockdown (eaves and entryways)

"I'm clearing spider webs and knocking down any wasp nests around the eaves and doors. That takes away places for them to settle in right where you walk in and out."

4) Granular bait around the foundation and mulch beds

"These granules go into the mulch and soil along the house. Mulch beds stay damp and sheltered, so they're popular spots for ants and other insects, and this targets them there."

5) Perimeter liquid treatment (about 3 ft up the wall, 10 ft out)

"Now I'm treating a band around the house, about 3 feet up the wall and about 10 feet out onto the ground. Think of it as a treated zone that bugs cross on the way in."

Re-entry: "Please keep people and pets off the treated areas until they're dry. That's usually 30 to 60 minutes."

6) Interior crack and crevice (kitchen, baths, garage if needed)

"Inside, I'm doing what we call crack and crevice treatment. That just means I apply product into the small gaps and edges where bugs hide, like along baseboards and behind appliances, ra
